Ingen finger, men en helllig ko…

For et par måneder siden havde jeg fornøjelsen af at være i Indien. En på mange måder anderledes oplevelse. Det var en rejse med mange indtryk fra et land, hvor der er store kontraster ikke bare mellem rig og fattig, men også mellem land og by. En ting der dog også var en oplevelse var den indiske trafik. Tæt. tung og larmende. Der blev flittigt brugt horn, hver gang man ville overhale, køre gennem trange gader og igennem landsbyer blev hornet brugt for at gøre opmærksom på, at ’her kommer jeg’.

Det skulle man så måske tro ville give anledning til at mange ville gøre brug af den berømte ’fuck-finger’. Men nej. Selvom der var meget tæt trafik, manglende baglys på såvel biler som lastbiler om natten og en trafikkultur der lægger langt fra den regulerede kørsel vi kender. En ting slog mig, man så ikke folk der hang ud af bilerne med en finger pegende opad, man så heller ikke ophidsede bilister, der råbte af hinanden og man så heller ikke diskussioner om hvem der nu kom først til en ledig p-plads…. i hvert fald ikke de steder jeg kom.

Se det kunne man lære noget af. Selvom der var meget tæt trafik (tættere end det vi kender) og selvom der blev kørt som en brækket arm, så var der ro og tolerance. Fair Play i Indien var at gøre opmærksom på at man kom og at man trods alt hjalp hinanden med at komme frem. Til de mere kuriøse afdelinger var så de hellige køer på gaderne og færdselsskiltningen især skiltet med ordlyden: ”Overhold venligst færdselsreglerne”. Som udefrakommende kunne man kun spørge sig om der var nogle færdselsregler for det virkede ikke sådan. Men frem kom man og det uden vrede fingre og ophidsede stemmer.
